Wednesday (today), there was a presentation on Eating Disorders. It was not the one about eating disorders in sports though. But, they both shared very interesting information that was actually really scary. I remember them saying 1 in 5 girls had eating disorders and I thought that was outrageous. Eating disorders seem to be very serious and these two presentations (The one about sports, and the one that wasn't especially)really gave a lot of information that I didn't know about. I didn't know that it was genetic and that it wasn't always something that you made yourself do because it can be mental as well.

Romeo and Juliet PLN Entry

Romeo and Juliet is a very confusing story. It is very interesting but the word choice can be odd when you first look at it. I enjoy reading Rome and Juliet though because it makes understanding the way things were done back in The Elizabethan Era and how people usually lived. I also think it's interesting to read it because you can compare it so well to todays society. For instance, they are both very different because in society in most free countries, you are allowed to choose who you marry. But they are similar because usually your family wants to respect the people you marry or love and if they don't then they usually exclude them. But in todays world, usually people can be honest and just tell their family who they want to marry and they will understand.

Anthem PLN

The conflict in Anthem is a man who doesn't understand that expanding is wrong, finds himself in a place where he is denied for even thinking about making bigger and better things. I would call this conflict a Man vs. Society conflict. He is one of the few people who understand that it is our individualism that shows who we are, not being mindless slaves where we think that the government is always right.

My PLN writing.

Serjeant, Jill. "Cirque" founder to host show from space. Thursday October 8th, 2009.

Laliberte, the founder of "Cirque du Soleil" is going to host a telivision show show from the International Space Station. He's trying to promote his cause, which is that there is very little clean water for some people in the world and that we can't take time to fix this problem. There are many super stars like singers and actors who are going to participate, but only Guy Laliberte will be in the International Space Station. The trip to ISS cost him over $35 million dollars. This doesn't personally affect me but I think it is amazing that we can host a show that is going on in space. It really shows how much we can do. But at the same time, $35 million dollars could've been used to help his cause instead of using it to promote his cause. It's amazing that we can do this but at the same time, the only reason to waste money to go up in space is for popularity, more people to watch the show, and a new milestone for the world. I don't believe that this will raise very much money for his cause, it's a publicity stunt and not many people are going to think about pure water scarcrity after the show ends. Though, I do think that this is a very worthy cause. This would probably save a lot of lives in third-world countries. This show can definitely change some peoples minds and really open there eyes. But, it would seem like the majority of people are going to watch the show for entertainment. It really shows how even famous people do care about the problems around the world. But, at the same time, using the money that he spent to make this happen, probably would've helped his cause a lot more than making a television show about it. I guess we will see what people think about it once it happens. It is supposed to happen Friday, October 9th at 8 o' clock p.m. EDT. On satellite telivision as far as I know, and on the internet at "onedrop.org".
